The city is, as Dua Lipa sings, hotter than hell. Should your swimwear drawer need a refresh as the mercury soars, turn to London labels for versatile pieces that’ll take you from your local lido to the Med. From eco-friendly trunks to ultra-glam Bond girl bikinis and one-size-fits-all crinkle cuts, the city’s swimwear designers have got you covered, whether for your next jet-set escape or simply to lie on a towel and soak up the sun in the park.
Hunza G
Probably the most famous of London’s homegrown swimwear labels, Hunza G was originally founded in 1984 and rebooted by designer Georgiana Huddart in 2015. Famous for its proprietary super-stretch crinkle-cut fabric, and one-size swimsuits, the brand has expanded into resortwear and kids’ ranges and developed a UPF 50+ range. But if you’re looking for the smash-hit bikini of the summer, look no further than the collab it recently dropped with Burberry. It’s hotter than the Central line in a heatwave.

Love Brand & Co
Not only does London label Love Brand & Co make its men’s trunks from 100 per cent recycled materials (each pair of swim shorts saves on average 15 plastic bottles from landfill or the ocean), but as a member of 1% for the Planet the brand donates at least one per cent of its annual net revenue to support wildlife conservation projects and a further one per cent to initiatives supporting local communities co-existing with wildlife. Crucially its trunks – which are variously made with terry cloth, printed with turtle or elephant patterns, or made in vibrant pinks, blues and greens – are pretty cool, too.

Heidi Klein
Founded in Notting Hill in 2002 by Heidi Gosman and Penny Klein, Heidi Klein is a luxury swim- and resort-wear brand that prioritises fabric and fit as much as it does just-stepped-off-my-yacht glamour. The opposite of an itty-bitty, wear-for-one-summer bikini, a Heidi Klein piece fits and flatters – whether you have a tummy or a fuller bust – and the simple designs and excellent quality mean they are built to last holiday after holiday.

Paolita
If you like your swimwear colourful and print-heavy with a boho energy, London label Paolita could be one for you. Founder Anna Paola Papaconstantinou, who trained at Alexander McQueen and Hussein Chalayan before launching her brand in 2010, draws on her Greek and Mexican heritage when hand-designing each of her beautiful prints, which feature anything from palm trees to mosaics and seahorses. And if you like your poolside Daiquiri with a side of colour, do not sleep on its ready-to-wear.

Ram London
Ram London’s sleek trunks look less like swimwear and more like an elegant item in a Riviera-ready wardrobe. Crafted from recycled quick-dry fabric, the subtle prints are retro-inspired and sophisticated in feel. These are trunks to take you from beach day to Aperols on the hotel terrace with ease.
