First she stormed our ears with tunes like (It Goes Like) Nanana and Starry Night, and spurred us onto dancefloors from London to Berghain and NYC. Now, DJ and producer Peggy Gou is getting into the shopping game (sort of). This Friday, June 26, she’s taking over Dream Bags Jaguar Shoes on Kingsland Road, where she’ll be giving away a bunch of items from her personal collection.
Gou will hand over 200 “mystery items” from her own collection on a first come, first served basis, plus another 100 archival pieces of merch. She’s also enlisted a bunch of DJs represented by her label Gudu Records to play on the night, and there’ll be drinks on the pour, too. It’s all in celebration of her new single Wo,man, a summer dancefloor banger featuring Nigerian singer-songwriter Ayra Starr. It also lands ahead of her upcoming headliner at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich in August.
Gou was born and raised in South Korea, but built her profile in clubs across London, including underground landmark Plastic People and Shoreditch’s Book Club.
The Gou,tique is at 32–36 Kingsland Road, E2 8DA on June 26 from 4pm–9pm. Entry and gifting is first come, first served.
