One of London’s leading chefs is going Italian. Adam Byatt – chef-owner of Clapham’s Michelin-starred Trinity, as well as nearby British diner Bistro Union – will open Rosina, a Wandsworth Italian restaurant, in summer. Rosina will sit opposite Wandsworth Common, on the same stretch as storied French fine diner Chez Bruce.
“I bought an amazing restaurant site called Brinkley’s, which is on Wandsworth Common on Bellevue Road back last year when it became available and it was just a site I was never going to turn down,” Byatt said in an announcement video on Instagram.
Named after Byatt’s daughter, Rosie, the restaurant is the chef-restaurateur’s first foray into Italian cooking. Like his other restaurants it’ll spotlight quality produce – from the UK and Italy – as well as Italian wines. And while Byatt hasn’t yet released any specifics about dishes, he said in a statement that “The menu is a tribute to the most well-loved cuisine in the world, and I can’t wait to share it with this London neighbourhood.”
“In all honesty, if you came to my house … Italian food, Mediterranean flavours, that’s what you’re going to get from me,” Byatt said on Instagram.
Rosina will host 50 diners inside, and a further 25 on its terrace. As well as its capacious dining room it’ll have a separate bar and a private dining room with its own terrace.
The new spot comes 20 years after Byatt launched Trinity, and 10 years since it was first awarded a Michelin star. Bistro Union followed in 2012; Byatt is also chef-director at Brown’s Hotel, and opened Brasserie Constance in the Fulham Pier precinct last year.
Rosina opens in summer at 35 Bellevue Road, SW17 7EF.
