The news that At Sloane – the discreet Chelsea spin-off of Paris’s storied Hotel Costes – has launched a 24-hour in-room menu isn’t of great use unless you’re staying in one of its sumptuous arts-and-crafts rooms. But the fact anyone can stroll into its louche downstairs bar and order from the menu until the wee hours? That’s handy to both guests and London locals alike.
“In the past, we noticed that bar guests were rushing to order knowing that the kitchen was closing at 11pm, so we understood there was a need, a desire to be able to freely enjoy food and drinks until closing,” a spokesperson who wishes to remain unnamed tells Broadsheet.
The new menu is available until midnight from Sunday to Tuesday, and until 1am all other evenings, heralding a useful new late-night dining option in the area. It joins nearby Martino’s, which is open for Italian dining past midnight most evenings. And it stars dishes that will be familiar to those who have visited Hotel Costes, which is known in Paris for its contemporary approach to fusing French with Asian cuisines. Think nos nems (chicken spring rolls with Thai basil) and steamed prawn dumplings. Other Hotel Costes signatures include ultra-thin matchstick fries, and its cheesecake (Kim Kardashian infamously flew from the US to Paris in her private jet specifically to eat the dessert).
Other dishes to be enjoyed between Martinis in the subterranean bar, among the James Kelly photography and Loro Piana curtains, include lobster pasta, the Petit Croque cheese and ham sandwich, and chocolate fondant. “For a late-night snack in the bar, I would recommend a naughty carb fest, croque monsieur and allumettes [matchstick fries] to wake up the next morning without a hangover,” says the spokesperson.
At Sloane’s bar menu is available until 4pm–midnight from Sunday to Tuesday, and from 4pm–1am Wednesday to Saturday. Book at dine@atsloane.com or on +44 20 3750 0750.
