That's a whole extra day every week to pick up its everything bagel croissants and long-fermented sourdough.

London’s obsession with all things pastry is at an all-time high, so it’s no surprise that Toad Bakery’s second site is one of the year’s most highly anticipated openings. Today, owners Rebecca Spaven and Oliver Costello announced on Instagram that the Deptford site (which was slightly delayed) will open in early July.

But that’s not the only exciting news: following a brief closure from June 15 to 23, the original Camberwell site will re-open, this time operating on Sundays. Currently, the bakery is closed on Sundays; a situation that has left more than one hungover Londoner who failed to check its opening times prior to making the pilgrimage to Camberwell bereft.

“Mothership Camberwell continues to serve you until she pauses for a brief closure … as we move some equipment and machinery over to Deptford and give her a much-deserved spruce up,” they said in the post.”

The other big news? Deptford will be open seven days a week, too. Sunday openings might just mean shorter queues on Saturdays – and more opportunities to nab classic favourites like the everything bagel croissant, the yuzu jaffa cake and the dark chocolate, soy and sesame cookie. Since opening in 2021, Toad has built its fanbase around its long-fermented sourdough made using sustainably farmed grains, and super-creative seasonal bakes.

Toad Bakery opens at St Paul’s House, Deptford High Street SE8 4BX in early July.
