Judd Crane is the man behind what you covet in-store and online at Selfridges – from fashion and beauty to food and experiences. With two decades in global fashion, he’s held senior roles in London, Hong Kong and beyond, shaping how we shop at brands like Joyce and On Pedder. At Selfridges, he’s masterminded game-changing projects like the designer galleries (the open-plan luxury shopping experience) and the Body Studio (a women’s bodywear space). Back at the helm since 2023, after spending nearly five years at Selfridges a decade ago, Judd’s mission is to keep Selfridges surprising, sustainable and always worth the trip. Here are 10 objects he loves.
Maison de Vacances linen throw, £215
Maison de Vacances is my new obsession for textiles – the throws, both linen and cashmere, the scatter pillows, the napkins, and also the sofas. Its products are reminiscent of the Alps and the south of France. I recently stayed in a small hotel in Luberon and was greeted by a whole drawer of napkins – tons of them – as the owner of the property was equally obsessed, and we celebrated our mutual love of Maison de Vacances.
Bottega Veneta denim jacket, £1970
Matthieu Blazy’s Bottega Veneta, from 2020 until now, has been an inspired evolution of what Daniel Lee achieved reinventing the house in 2018. I’m collecting pieces from Blazy’s last collection this season, with a dual anticipation for what [the brand’s new creative director] Louise Trotter will bring next and what Blazy will create at Chanel. I really love what this house has become in the last few years.
Moccamaster coffee machine, £268
Coffee is integral to my morning routine. This Moccamaster is a jewel. I appreciate a big pot of coffee I can work through from waking until late morning, and this one is the best I’ve found.
Dulcie body wash, £21.45
Dulcie – a brand formerly known as Haeckels – was founded in 2012 in Margate and derives its products from locally sourced seaweed. For the last couple years I’ve kept returning to this amazing body cleanser, as well as the hair and skincare line.
Maison Bonnet Clifford glasses, from €1300
In 2014 I remarked on Christian Louboutin’s glasses and he said, “Oh, they are from Maison Bonnet, at the top of the Palais Royal.” What ensued has been a complete dedication of my face to this brand. I wear eyeglasses every day, basically the only accessory I wear. A bespoke piece of eyewear, once experienced, is unparalleled. My first pair was a style originally made for Yves Saint Laurent, and I sometimes think of him when I wear them.
Boot Boyz Biz tee, £26
I keep going back to these shirts I have collected by Boot Boyz Biz, who released small batches of insanely well-considered and well-researched graphics and concepts printed on shirts, hats, etc. It is essentially a research and think-tank project which culminates in product development. They now are live for product sales as Boot Foundation.
Volker Haug & Flack Studio Bruce lighting, US$4100
The lighting by Volker Haug as exhibited by The Future Perfect at their space in Los Angeles is major. This is an example of a light which works equally well on a wall or ceiling – and there are so many other designs by Haug that are of merit.
Diagonal Furniture Carimate chairs, £950 a pair
The Carimate chair is a grail find in this condition. Iconic Vico Magistretti design. Diagonal Furniture is a reputable, affordable, eclectic source for furnishings.
Tokyobike hiba wood reed diffuser, £75
This hinoki room fragrance is a good neutral scent for a bedroom. It’s perfectly present and also absent.
JW Anderson Wedgwood Greek cups, £300
JW Anderson’s transformation as a brand is exciting. The non-fashion collaborations in particular are super interesting, in that [they are] so personal to Jonathan himself. I think many discerning people want to connect with brands whose products are personally connected with the creative director, and this is an example of a simple, yet very special, object.
Things I Love is a series devoted to London’s most exciting tastemakers and the products they’re obsessed with.
