Coqodaq opened in New York’s Flatiron district in 2024 and quickly became one of the city’s toughest restaurants to get a reservation. Its take on Korean fried chicken prioritises humanely reared chicken and sustainably sourced ingredients, and since late 2024 it’s maintained a Michelin Bib Gourmand. Soon, London fried chicken fans will be able to get their fix close to home: Coqodaq is opening in Mayfair Gordon Ramsay restaurant Lucky Cat, for two weeks from June 29.
Founder Simon Kim (who also runs NYC steakhouse Cote) and his team are bringing Coqodaq’s classic chicken nuggets and adding a luxe twist, with the option to pile on Golden Daurenki caviar or seasonal truffle. Like in New York, champagne will be a pillar of the menu, with options including Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque. There’ll also be a bluefin tuna tartare with Calabrian chilli soy sauce, and the Double Deuce, a cocktail starring a neon-yellow ball-shaped ice cube that’s served at the restaurant during US Open season (it’s landing in London right in time for the Wimbledon).
Importantly, the chicken will be available to take away in the restaurant’s recognisable orange boxes, with separate compartments for the chicken and various sides like chilled veggies.
“Simon has built something incredibly special in New York with Coqodaq,” said Ramsay in a statement. “It’s honestly some of the best fried chicken I've ever tasted.”
Coqodaq at Lucky Cate Mayfair pops up from June 29 to July 12.
